Release notes for JSesh

2.4.16

this release mainly adds new signs to JSesh

  • complete "C", "G", and "H" families: all the gods and birds you wanted, and more.
  • a few signs have been fixed when they contained errors.
  • the data on the "C" family has been completely typed, so that you can see what the palette can do. Find a god sign using one of his attributes !
  • An experimental window executable installer is provided, for people with windows Vista (it also works on XP)
  • A bug fix with Mac OS X Leopard, which made JSesh very slow on this system, has been made. Please tell me if it works, as I cautiously keep my Tiger.

2.4.15

The most notable improvement of 2.4.15 is the addition of a new software: the sign info editor. It allows one to add information on signs, for instance transliteration and sign description. I hope that some JSesh user with enough expertise in Egyptology will take advantage of this to improve the existing data.

Meanwhile, this also means that the JSesh palette has been improved.

Other changes:

* Now, '-' can be used while typing signs transliterations for entering signs. For instance, you can type "Hwt-Hr".

* Corrected interpretation of \r and \t when importing winglyph text.

* Corrected some bugs in TTF fonts import (well, some of those bugs are due
to the various versions of Java.

* We now include the MDC source file in the PDF output of JSesh as a comment
(in the Subject field). This is a trick, but it will allows us, for instance, to
save and reload PDF files created by JSesh, which is a requirement of the IFAO.

There seems to be a problem when installing 2.4.15 with windows vista. I'm working on it.

2.4.13c

Small bug fix in cut and paste (colors could get wrong in some cases). Added lots of women signs.

2.4.13

FIXES A CRITICAL BUG IN VERSION 2.4.12.

2.4.12

Much improvement for the mac (custom icons, possibility to open JSesh files by double-clicking them). Improvement of the Palette mecanism. (AND A BUG, corrected later)

2.4.8

Bug fix for version 2.4 (cut and paste did not work between JSesh and Microsoft Words on Windows).

2.4

Improved MAC export. PC export uses EMF (better than WMF), and above all, lots of new hieroglyphs thanks to S. Thomas, and a hieroglyph palette to manage them. Note This version of JSesh has a problem when pasting text into WORD for WINDOWS (not with openoffice for windows, nor with WORD for MAC !!!!). I'm working on it.

2.3.6

SVG export. You select a zone of text, and you can save it as SVG text.

2.3.4

bug fixes, revised signs.

2.3.2

Improvement in text layout, bug fixes, updated documentation
