Differences between glyphs in release-7.6.1 and release-7.9
Release 7.9 of JSesh contains lots of new and modified signs.
Notably:
- a set of Old Kingdom signs, mainly drawn by S. Thomas for a distinguished colleague of ours ;
- Fixes relative to the Hieroglyphica sign list, following remarks by Dr. Peter Dils ;
- Fixes to E240, which is not a lion, but a lionness;
- Redrawn sphinx signs to match the Hieroglyphica and epigraphic sources;
- A fix to A49 which might lead to the introduction of other variants.
Important notice / breaking changes !
Potential breaking changes in the font must be signaled:
-
B1J
and B1K
were inverted in JSesh. I have swapped them back to their correct Hieroglyphical versions. If you have encoded texts with the JSesh fonts using those signs, you might consider checking them. You can use the search in folder function of JSesh for this.
-
N104
and N104B:
:
this is trickier. The Hieroglyphica shape for N104 is
, but for a reason I don't fully understand, I used the code for the relatively usual
. Many users have probably used N104 for
, and I have decided to keep the JSesh code in this case.
One of the problem I have is that the IFAO uses JSesh with a font built from the Hieroglyphica. It might lead to differences between encoding in this case.
