My friend Vincent Euverte passed away the 25th of may 2018. I was not part of the Rosette Project he had created, but I had many contacts with people who were.
I first met him in the eurostar to the Oxford Informatique et égyptologie conference in 2006, where he was going to present Rosette. He had a huge talent to bring people together and to build a community around a common project. In the 2008 egyptological conference in Rhodes, he got in touch with many Egyptian colleagues and I know he was very appreciated in Egypt.
His Rosette project, which initially was conceived as a web-site for learners of Middle Egyptian, brought together many people, from absolute beginners to students in the EPHE. I know that a number of young Egyptologists, currently engaged in a PHD, had their first contact with Egyptology on Rosette.
He will be sorely missed, and I express here my sympathy for his family and friends.
Serge Rosmorduc.
