A very important announcement for those of you who would like to display or manipulate hieroglyphic texts on web sites.
The JSesh source now includes a Javascript (actually typescript) library which is a port of JSesh. It handles the full JSesh language, and can be easily (sort of) inserted in web sites.
This web site already uses it.
e.g.
The corresponding code1:
<jsesh-text orientation="vertical" cadrat-height="40">
L1:D21-N35:V31-M17*(Aa15:O34)-G39&X1-N16-N29*Z1*Z1*Z1-!
L1-[[\R90-D21-X1&G43-D35-E34:N35:N35-]]\R90-!
G43-D21:V13-A1*B1:3-O34-W24:V31-Z1-!
G39&X1-V31-N36:X1-F34*Z1:V31-D1*Q3-X1-N35:X1-!
O1:D21-D54-M17*(Aa15:V31)-[[\R90-G43&X1-D2*Z1-!
G4-V28*(X1:D1*Z1)-S29*(N35:D58*Y1v)-V31-T12:Y1-!
Aa1:D21-V28*(D36:F51*F51*F51)-F35-R4:X1*Q3-]]\R90-!
A51-V30-F39:Q3-Aa15-R4:X1*Q3
</jsesh-text>
- go to https://files.qenherkhopeshef.org/jsesh-web/ to download the code;
- the folder https://files.qenherkhopeshef.org/jsesh-web/0.2.0/ is simply the content of the zip file, but visiting it will give you an idea of what can be done;
- documentation (of the current version) can be found on https://github.com/rosmord/jsesh/tree/master/jsesh-js; especially in the user guide;
- the source is included in the sources of JSesh
The library is probably going to evolve; I have already moved from version 0.1.0 to version 0.2.0, with easier to use editor and palette.
This library will allow:
- the development of mobile versions of JSesh
- the easy use of JSesh-based text on web sites, including the entry of hieroglyphic texts.
- stuff I haven't imagined yet.
Enjoy!

sort of. In plain HTML, it would be the case. In this web site, which uses markdown,
*have special meaning, so we “escape” them using\*. But you get the idea. ↩
