Current TODO list

You will find below my current todo list for JSesh, as I need it to be somewhere :)

The content of this post will of course change with time. This topic is not opened to comments : remarks, suggestions, and so on can be made in the rest of the "JSesh future" part of the forum.

User Glyphs Folders

I was wondering if it might be possible to have JSesh be able to access the contents of subfolders located in the designated User Glyphs folder? This would make it easy to quickly install and uninstall large collections while leaving others alone.

Also is there any way of quickly determining whi...

Simon001 - D&s

Hi Serge

Entering:

D&s [space]

fails to tuck the "s" into the "D". The "s" is actually written in front of and more or less on top of the D. The vertical "s" has not been reduced in size and placed into the ligature area of the "D" correctly. The poor snake's head gets cruelly crushed!

D&z...

Simon002 - Transliteration - paste to other program problem

Hi Serge

At the moment pasting a selected chunk of transliteration actually puts the key-codes used to produce the transliteration characters into the clipboard - e.g. taking a "underlined t" actually copies "T" - i.e. the key character used to produce it.

If I force the output to bitmap by disa...

Simon003 - Request for feature - tabs

Hi Serge

First of all - I do realize that you are not trying no re-invent MS Word or Open Office. I also realize that I am not your most important user. Nevertheless. At the moment there is no kind of tabulator feature. You only have carat space insertion and half of the same. (Ctrl P). Now I...

Simon004 - Spelling in help doc

Hi Serge

In the help doc that comes with the product "tricks" should be written with ck in English. Unfortunately it's even set in bold type and hits me right in the eye every time I open up. :)

Here are all the mistakes according to an rtf export to MS Word.

is trics sb tricks is faithfull sb...

Simon005 - Graphic format - Pop-up text

Hi Serge

In the Edit Preferences - Graphic format - the pop-up should read

is "somehow portable" sb "portable to a certain extent".

Apart from that, the pop-up should stay open for at least twice as long as at the moment. The user has to have time to read the text. The best solution would be f...

Simon006 - Menu text - zoom, unzoom

Hi

is zoom sb Zoom is unzoom sb Unzoom

Everything else starts with a capital letter.

Apart from that - I think it should read "Zoom in" and "Zoom out", although I personally can live quite happily with "Unzoom". Actually the word zoom holds for both directions. Zoom as such does not specify ge...

Simon007 - Edit menu text - Copy:

Hi

In the Edit menu, lowest section

3 times "copy :" - sb - "Copy :".

Apart from that " : " is very French. In English ": " is customary - i.e. without a space in front of the ":".

But here again, this is of no great importance. (Large font so you can see the difference.) A better solution...

Simon009 - Menu "..." convention

Hi Serge

All menu elements that on a click throw up a sub-menu or a pop-up window to accommodate further options should be followed by three dots.

Example:..

New Open ... Save Save as ...

On the other hand your menu system is already producing ">" for sub-menus, so at least that has automati...

Simon008 - Menu Text manipulation - ligature, text for dots

Twice:

is "ligature", sb "Ligature"

Apart from that, the red dot and the black dot are very pretty. But even so, put in a text "Red dot" and "Black dot" (along with graphical dots) otherwise these two menu points look like two missing teeth in a set of dentures. Simon

PS: Please excuse my usag...

Simon010 - Scroll - text - no bottom

Hi

If you scroll through a doc containing lines of glyphs, translit and text, i.e. all on the same line, on almost every second scroll, one of the text parts gets slightly garbled. The bottoms of all the letters on one of the lines are not displayed.

A single click anywhere within the graphic w...

Simon011 - Poor legibility of translit

Hi Serge

The legibility of the transliteration font is very poor. Part of the problem is of course "cursive" - which very unfortunately is part of the standard. The main problem is distinguishing the 4 h's. t and t bar are also difficult to distinguish on a computer screen.

A second legibility...

Simon012 - 3 horizontal glyphs stacked

Hi Serge

Comparing the pronouns n:3 and T:n:3 the elements of the chen have been squashed both vertically and horizontally until all three fit into a carat. To be "perfect", the squashing should only be in the vertical. Horizontally the normal A! carat width should be retained. In other words the...

Simon14 - Read only - protected file

Hi Serge

It would be quite useful if one could set a gly file to read only using the UI - perhaps as a menu command under "File". This would grey out all the appropriate menus that would otherwise perform a change and set the file itself to "read only".(Or achieve the same thing in any other appro...

Simon016 - Macros or stored MdC in an additional user database

Hi Serge

It would be a good idea to allow the user to store a couple of "specials", based on the JSesh functionality already present. The solution would be to implement macros - or at least stored sequences of MdC. This would simply mean that you can give a name - e.g. "st" - to something like

Simon017 - Add "in" tag for W24

Hallo Serge

At the moment W24 only has an "mw" tag. I would suggest adding an "in" tag too - (e.g. "ink").

Cheers, Simon

Gardiner Codes flag in saving or utility to post-elaborate gly files

Typing in JSesh it's possible and very useful to use phonetic values instead of Gardiner Codes for example 'A' instead of G1. This feature (useful) could bring to some problems, trying to post-elaborate the files, for example searching pattern, 'A' and G1 are equivalent, but a 'Find' would match onl...

Shade zone in JSesh

Hello all.

I love JSesh but one thing that I never loved is the way JSesh shades a zone with the grey background. To make professional hieroglyphics texts I prefer the normal style with oblique lines as other hieroglyphic editors.

Well, this is a suggestion.

Ongoing work...

Well, currently I am working on requests made by professionnal typesetters. This includes a better PDF export, the possibility to save some text features in the document itself, and the possibility to specify the page size. I will also add the possibility to paste JSesh output as a PDF file (this sh...
